Continuing the battle for the Soul Edge, this pack brings back 4 fighters from the Soul Calibur VI: Libra of Souls set with new abilities. New versions of Astaroth, Seong Mi-Na, Tira, and Voldo bring another way to play your favorite character with this Deck-Loadable Content!
Don’t discount the fighting spirit of the Daughter of the Bladed Rod!!
**Seong Mi-Na** returns for her second appearance in UniVersus with a new focus. After gaining an additional 4 Vitality, and trading out the symbol for
, she doesn’t immediately seem all that different; she still has a Form and an Enhance ability. Let’s examine those.
Enhance [Twice per turn]: Your opponent commits 1 foundation. If that foundation is face down, add it to their card pool.
With the addition of , it looks like this version of Mi-Na adds a touch of card pool flooding to her repertoire, punishing the opponent for committing a face down foundation instead of a face up foundation. Twice/turn committal alone is nothing to sneeze at, but forcing a difficult choice on the opponent can be useful if you’re able to leverage it by building your deck with some amount of control over flipping their foundations. (Note that this ability does NOT say [Your turn].)
Form Commit: Play 1 Weapon card from your discard pile.
Not much to really say about this. Did you check that attack or asset that you REALLY want to play? Feel free to play it on your turn for the low, low cost of committing your character!
Seong Mi-Na’s new attack Diamond Crusher leans further into the same theme as her character. One of it’s two abilities mimics Mi-Na’s [Twice per turn] ability, while the other grants a damage bonus for each face down card in the opponent’s card pool. This feels like a finisher if you can pull off the feat of filling their pool.
Search for Salvation yet again offers the ability to commit a foundation, and if it is face down add it to the card pool. I’m sensing a theme here…
The REALLY interesting ability on this card is the Response ability, though. While not quite as powerful as High Seas Adventure, this card offers some significant trade-offs. First, the lower difficulty and higher control make Search for Salvation an easier include, not needing to fight for that valuable 3-Difficulty foundation space in your deck. Second, it has a block! And gosh darn it, sometimes you don’t even mind taking a little unblockable damage if it means your opponent won’t get the chance to improve it or set up for the next move. Expect this foundation to see wide play upon release.
The Soul Calibur VI Deck-Loadable Content Pack 2 will include 4, new, playable Characters, 2 copies of an Attack for each Character, and 2 copies of a Foundation for each Character for a total of 20 foil cards. This DLC pack releases in 2020 for the UniVersus Collectible Card Game. You will be able to buy them at your Friendly Local Game Store or preorder them on our site once the previous pack releases.
