Earthrealm’s SWAT Officer

Welcome back for the final preview of the fourth pack in our inaugural cycle of Deck-Loadable Content!  In the Mortal Kombat DLC pack, four, all-new, klassic kombatants enter the world of UniVersus: Nightwolf, Noob Saibot, Sheeva, and Stryker!  The last character to be revealed is the head of the NYC Special Riot Control Division, Kurtis Stryker!

The Mortal Kombat Deck-Loadable Content will include four new, playable Characters, two copies of an Attack for each Character, and two copies of a Foundation for each Character for a total of 20 foil cards.

Stryker is ready to lay down the law with a hand size of 6, the , , and symbols, and a hefty 29 Vitality. Stryker seems simple at first glance, but that’s not necessarily bad. Simplicity can be a good thing! Stryker’s character Response punishes his opponent for making use of Momentum. Alternatively, it can be a deterrent to your opponent choosing to take Momentum during the End Phase of a turn. His Enhance ability serves great functionality being able to add Ranged Attacks like Spirit Shotgun, Dark Chireitou, Swimming Bird, or even Kikosho (if you want to be really cheeky) back to hand just to be played again. Also, making your opponent discard their Momentum can potentially aid you in circumventing defensive hurdles such as Skull Barrier or Protecting the Protector.

Grenade Toss activates Stryker’s Response on its own, just by being played. This attack comes in at a walloping 7 printed damage! It performs well as a lead-in attack due to a combination of this high of a natural damage and the Response ability to cause your opponent to lose 2 Vitality for partially blocking your Ranged Attacks, proving useful for an entire aggressive assault.

Special Riot Control gives Stryker some welcome flexibility for both offense and defense. Since Stryker is able to return Ranged Attacks to his hand, he will likely see high counts of Ranged Attacks in his lineup. This Foundation helps threaten the KO with damage output for each Ranged Attack in your Card Pool. While playing Reversal Attacks is not always optimal, Stryker can make good use of both his Character Enhance and Special Riot Control to block with a Ranged Attack and then play a Ranged Reversal, giving it a sizable damage bonus before returning the Block card to hand. On defense, the capability to ready all of your face down Foundations can help pass enough blocks to stay in the game until your following turn.
