Welcome back for another look at the fourth pack in our inaugural cycle of Deck-Loadable Content! In the Mortal Kombat DLC Pack, four, all-new, klassic kombatants enter the world of UniVersus: Nightwolf, Noob Saibot, Sheeva, and Stryker! Today, we’re revealing the winner of the recent fan vote: the four-armed Shokan warrior Sheeva!
The Mortal Kombat Deck-Loadable Content will include four new, playable Characters, two copies of an Attack for each Character, and two copies of a Foundation for each Character for a total of 20 foil cards.
Sheeva, like her fellow Shokan warrior Goro touts 40 Vitality, a hand size of 4, and the ,
, and
symbols. Unlike Goro, however, she focuses on impeding her opponent rather than making a plan from the discard pile. She does this by “standing in their way” — putting cards into her opponent’s Card Pool, then keeping them there or using them for her own gain. Her ability to discard a card to lock a card into the Card Pool isn’t reliant on it being her turn, so if you happen to have cards you don’t need (like a non-matching Block zone or a no-Block), then she can make use of her ability to press her advantage on the next turn. Being able to add +4 Damage to her attack nearly on demand is nothing to sneeze at, either!
Furious Stomp is a deceptively good Attack for Sheeva. It really is a 4-Difficulty, 4-Speed, 8-Damage attack with a +0 Mid Block AND a Check of 3! While it may not be flashy, solid stats on an Attack are always useful. Aside from Sheeva, this attack can find a good home as a finisher in decks running proactive Yin & Yang game plans. Using this attack in the right circumstances will be key to success, but the potential payoff if this card is quite high.
Earlier, I mentioned that Sheeva was themed around impeding her opponent by standing in their way. Royal Bodyguard exemplifies this by aiding Sheeva with Card Pool disruption, potentially preventing Combo Attacks from following up the current Attack, or just increasing Progressive Difficulty. The ability to reduce the Damage of an Attack for each card in your opponent’s Card Pool helps when you aren’t able to block.
