Earthrealm’s Shaman Protector

Welcome to the first look at the fourth pack in our inaugural cycle of Deck-Loadable Content!  In the Mortal Kombat DLC Pack, four, all-new klassic kombatants enter the world of UniVersus: Nightwolf, Noob Saibot, Sheeva, and Stryker!  Our first preview showcases the Native American shaman and powerful Earthrealm protector, Nightwolf!

The Mortal Kombat Deck-Loadable Content will include four new, playable Characters, two copies of an Attack for each Character, and two copies of a Foundation for each Character for a total of 20 foil cards.

Nightwolf is a 7-Hand-Size, 20-Vitality character utilizing the , , and symbols.   Nightwolf strengthens his attacks whenever his opponent blocks, so selecting attacks with abilities that trigger when the attacks are not blocked should be a key part of Nightwolf’s strategy, forcing opponents into difficult decisions.  Nightwolf’s [Once per turn] Response ability can be utilized on either player’s turn, allowing Nightwolf to maximize his resources for one final attack or for a last ditch defensive effort.

Nightwolf channels the power of his ancestral spirits and unleashes them on his opponent with Tomahawk Swing! This Attack works with Nightwolf’s Character abilities to pressure your opponent while also potentially sustaining an offensive assault.  Tomahawk Swing’s base Damage of 4 combined with a damage pump can put early pressure on an opponent, who must choose between taking a large chunk of damage or passing a difficult block which potentially gives Nightwolf’s next attack a minimum of +3 Damage.  If Nightwolf has Momentum, Tomahawk Swing becomes a real threat! If this Attack deals damage, any Foundations committed during Nightwolf’s turn can be destroyed and replaced with ready face down foundations, allowing the attack string to continue!

Spiritual Connection illustrates the connection shared between Nightwolf and Raiden, who warns Nightwolf about the impending Outworld invasion.  This defensive Foundation can prevent powerful Combo Enhances from being played and simply being in play will force an opponent to keep a non-Attack card in hand at all times if they want to attack.  If a player knows their opponent is going to be playing and recurring cards or will be attacking with a particular Attack, Spiritual Connection can also be used as an emergency tool to build one or more extra Foundations to be used for Nightwolf’s Response, potentially saving the game by using those Foundations  to pass a high-difficulty Block!
