2020 UFS World Championship Details

Next week brings us to another UFS World Championship weekend. This will be the final UFS World Championship as we transition over to UniVersus, however, so we plan to go out with a bang. Continue reading this article for more information about the World Championship events.

Badges & Registration

This year, UFS will be located in the gaming hall on the first floor along with the other card game events being run over the weekend. There will be a separate entrance just for the gaming hall. Both Friday and Saturday mornings, there will be a registration booth outside of the gaming hall where you can register for both Teams (Friday) and Singles (Saturday). Upon registering a legal deck, players will be provided with a weekend convention badge.

Pack Redemption

Pack Redemption will be made available throughout the weekend. However, there will not be any pack redemption available in the mornings during event registration.

We will not be able to press any mats for redemption during the weekend.

Prizing

For both Teams and Singles, we will be handing out participation prizing during swiss rounds. 

Top Cut Finalist teams will receive the following:

• 2020 World Championship Top Cut Finalist Play Mat for each player
• 1 Booster Box of most recent UFS product for the team for each round of top cuts achieved

2020 UFS World Teams Champion will receive the following:

• 2020 World Teams Champions Play Mat
• 2020 World Championship Title Belt for each member of the winning team
• 600 early access copies of a tournament legal Asset card made in the winning team’s likeness. The winning team will work together with Jasco Games to create unique card abilities.

All participants in the Singles event will receive this commemorative play mat.

Top Cut Singles Finalists will receive the following:

• 2020 World Championship Top Cut Finalist Play Mat
• 12 UFS Booster Packs for each round of top cuts achieved.

The 2020 UFS Singles World Champion will be awarded with:

• 2020 World Champion Play Mat
• 1 Booster Box of most recent UFS set
• 500 early access copies of a tournament legal UFS character card made in your likeness. The 2020 Singles Champion will work together with Jasco Games to create unique card abilities.

Player Bounties

When you’re at the top, everyone wants to see you get what’s coming! This year we are instituting player bounties! The top 5 from the 2019 Player of the year Rankings will all have bounty prizes to award any player who defeats them during Swiss rounds of the Singles World Championship event.

Each round they will get an item. If they win, they get to keep it, if they lose, it will be awarded to their opponent.

Side Events

Giant Card Event 

• Registration will open at 5pm on Saturday.
• Time: Sunday, Feb 23rd 11:00 am
• Entry: $20
• Participation award: 4 packs of a standard legal UFS set
• Format: Standard, 32 player Single Elimination
• Grand Prize: One giant card!

Uncut Sheet 8 player pods

• Events will fire off on Sunday as we fill pods of 8.
• Entry: $15
• Participation award: 2 packs of a standard legal UFS set
• Format: Turbo, Single Elimination

3 Man Team Grab Bag

• Registration will open at 5pm on Saturday.
• Entry: $25 per player
• Entry limit: 8 teams
• Each team will receive 24 random packs of legal UFS sets with which to make 3 40-card decks.
• Teams will play 3 rounds of Swiss pairings. The team with the best record at the end will be awarded with 1 pack of the Soul Calibur VI DLC pack 1 each.
